Who we are
Our role is to provide a dynamic and effective response to High risk and dynamic situations. Provide support for front line response officers. Coordinate specific high-risk incidents. Provide Tactical Firearms Assistance for the Borough. Conduct high visibility foot patrol or mobile patrol in gun crime areas. Conduct specific operations to remove the threat of firearms, or extreme violence, and Bring high or standard risk jobs to a safe conclusion. Our West Area (WA) team, is headed up by a Sergeant and Inspector and operates a fleet predominantly of BMW X5s.
Our Team
MO19 is currently lead by Sergeant S.Williams and Inspector J.Wilkes. They leads a team comprised of Authorised Firearms Officers. They specialise in countering the use of firearms and other weapons as well as respond to incidents of high priority throughout their shift. All firearms officers are also equipped with Ballistic Emergency Life Support training which allows them to treat injuries ranging from small cuts to gunshot wounds.
Firearms officers within the division can progress to the use of SEG, Airports Policing, Parliamentary Protection, Counter-Terrorism, Expo, and much more. From routine Armed Response Vehicle patrolling to Counter Terror operations, MO19 is one of the most diverse and elite teams to come across.
